DAY 36 -
Dear Mike’s Trees,
All of the almost 17 years we’ve lived here, I’ve appreciated you. The three of you tall tall Pines, on our neighbor’s property bordering ours.
I’ve appreciated your strength, your shade, your thick carpet of needles in our front and side yards in the fall, and your delicious piney scent.
And every Halloween I’ve appreciated your gorgeous wide trunks, the perfect photo shoot prop that my costumed girls have leaned against or peeked around, perfectly placed with the blazing red Japanese maple in the background. We have really, really, fully enjoyed you!
Although when the wind picked up and the hurricanes or winter storms blew through, we’d always be a bit nervous you come crashing down on our house.
So now that Mike has cut you all down, we definitely feel safer. Not to mention it feels wonderfully open and expansive now.
So, thank you Mike’s trees, for never falling on us and for allowing us to enjoy you for so long.
RIP
